In the care that we provide to our patients at Mercy Medical Center, we consistently strive to keep patients safe and to prevent falls and pressure ulcers. All levels of hospital staff have been educated on our Fall Reduction Program and Pressure Ulcer Prevention Program; these programs keep the safety of our patients foremost in our minds. Our Intensive Care Unit houses Intermediate patients as overflow patients; all the falls that occurred in the ICU were attributed to intermediate care patients. We have a collaborative initiative led by an interdisciplinary team which conducts patient rounds with the goal to reduce the risk of patient harm resulting from falls and pressure ulcers.
